Why Are Weddings a Black Tux and White Dress
Ivory Dress - Black and White Tux - Clash?
I had never thought about this before, but my dress is ivory - not off-white, but a TRUE ivory. I know that FH is planning on having black tuxes for his GM, but he has not decided on if they will wear black vests and ties or something else. He knows he would like a white vest and white tie to separate him a bit from his WP though. If he does go the white vest white tie black tux route, will the white of his shirt, vest and tie clash with my dress in photos or is it not that noticeable. I'm almost wondering if he should wear an ivory tie and vest with a white shirt to create a little depth, but to pull our looks together. What do you guys think? Or brides with ivory dresses, what did your grooms do?

I think your idea is a good one. ivory tie and vest with a white shirt might be the best route. and then his GM could be the flip of that ivory shirts with white vest and ties if he is trying to be the same but different at the same time.

My dress was champagne (which is much darker than ivory) and H's shirt was ivory. You really can't tell in the pics.

Well I have an ivory dress. My FH is wearing a black shirt and green/brown vest. His GM are wearing ivory shirts with the same vest. It sets him apart from his guys. I was told a white shirt would make my dress look "dingy". Not sure if that is true tho.

I was going to go with a ivory dress, but I know FH was wearing white... so to me I don't think it goes well...I went with a white dress.... and he's wearing his white, it also went better with the flower girl and ring bearer...I agree with Kristen kinda makes the dress look "dingy" IMO.

Hi everyone, my dress is ivory and when we went to Men's Warehouse we were advised that if the guys wore white it would possibly make my dress look dirty so we settled on the groomsmen wearing black vests with ivory shirts. If you combine the white and ivory it may make things look funny. I would ask the advice of the people you are getting the tuxes from. Good luck!

My dress was off-white and DH wore an ivory shirt with his dark blue suit. Ivory is a better color for both of us than white is.

I'm having this exact problem! (just wrote about it and then read this
My guy actually went shopping with his groomsmen today. I am wearing a diamond white dress and he picked out a white tie. ugh. I have seen loads of pics where the dress is ivory and the shirt is white but the tie is ivory and it looks great so I think that route is a great idea!
but with a white tie as well.
kinda freaking out not going to lie so I get your concern!

If he wears white and you wear ivory your dress will look dirty. I would put him on ivory shirt tie and vest

Take a look at a couple of pics here. The ivory dresses definitely do not look dingy or dirty.

My dress is also ivory so the groom and groomsmen are wearing ivory shirts with the black tuxes.
